Plantar Wart Treatment
Treat Discomfort at the Source and Prevent Future Outbreaks
Plantar warts, or verrucas, are small growths on the soles of your feet caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). While they are often harmless, they can become painful when located on weight-bearing areas. At Cortez Foot & Ankle Specialists, we offer safe and effective treatment options to remove warts and prevent recurrence, helping you walk more comfortably and confidently.
Warts often appear as rough, callus-like bumps with a black dot in the center. They may go unnoticed until they begin to affect your gait or cause pressure-related discomfort. Plantar warts are contagious and spread through contact with infected surfaces, particularly in shared spaces like locker rooms and showers.
Treatment may include topical wart removal medication or cryotherapy, which uses liquid nitrogen to freeze the wart. In rare cases, surgical removal may be necessary. Our goal is to resolve the condition with the least discomfort and help prevent reinfection through hygiene education and foot care guidance.
We treat patients at our Bradenton, University Park, and Ellenton, Florida offices.
